Announcing The Ballet Nights Music Award.
We are pleased to share the exciting news of the Ballet Nights Music Award, an annual award dedicated to celebrating and empowering an exceptional young musician under the age of 30. This award honours artistry, innovation, and a collaborative spirit that embody Ballet Nights’ distinctive integration of live music and dance.

The Ballet Nights Music Award forms part of Fundamentally Dance’s ongoing mission to nurture artistic excellence and foster education and creation. By spotlighting a young musician each year, we aim to strengthen the bridge between musical and choreographic innovation, ensuring that live sound remains an integral part of dance.
We are thrilled to announce that the first Ballet Nights Music Award has been presented to Dominic Stokes, a London-based violist and composer whose artistry perfectly reflects the award’s spirit and vision. Audiences may remember Dominic from Ballet Nights 008: Spring into Summer, where his performance left an indelible impression through its warmth, dynamism, and natural sensitivity to movement.
Dominic will receive £1,000 and upon acceptance he will be welcomed into the Ballet Nights creative family. Working alongside Artistic Director Jamiel Devernay-Laurence and the Fundamentally Dance leadership team, he will contribute to the live music programming across Ballet Nights and its sister platforms. This collaboration will open doors to creative planning, new commissions, and innovative partnerships, offering a unique opportunity to explore how sound and movement can evolve together.

At Fundamentally Dance, we believe the future of performance lies in dialogue between dance and music.
The Ballet Nights Music Award is more than just a prize; it is an investment in the next generation of musical innovators, and a celebration of the ever-evolving relationship between music and dance. We are delighted to witness how this new initiative will continue to enrich Ballet Nights’ ecosystem, empowering emerging artists like Dominic Stokes to redefine the boundaries of live performance.
Dominic Stokes will be playing January 1st in Ballet Nights The New Year's Day Concert.
