As a Brand New Dance format, Ballet Nights is always looking to grow Show upon Show, dedicated to Dance Voices, past, present, and future.
That’s why, after being blown-away by the talent on display at the Rambert Choreographic Showcase in the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler’s Wells last May, Ballet Nights Artistic Director, Jamiel Devernay-Laurence welcomed a piece by the Students of Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance to the Programme of Ballet Nights 005: New Futures as a last minute addition.
A school producing exceptional dancers, with alumni including Ballet Nights’ favourites Felicity Chadwick and Kennedy Junior Muntanga, students are renowned for their technical proficiency, artistic versatility, and innovative performances. The cast of SET FAST; Amari Webb-Martin; Evie-Leigh Savage; Lottie Hawkins; Matthew Potulski; Jemima Sparrow; Phoebe Dowglass; and Rory Clarke; as well as choreographer, Grace O’Brien, are no exception.
Taking to the stage in a programme featuring the likes of Star Principals of English National Ballet, the piece was a stand out success with hugely impressive, fresh choreography, performed with commitment and precision, resulting in rave reviews. It even had a few of the Ballet Nights Team dancing some of their iconic moves all the way to Canary Wharf after curtains closed.

“O'Brien is a choreographer beyond her years", writes Gramilano, "demonstrating astute skill in original language, use of space and structuring. The cast totally understood her language of specified simplicity and repetition, and its commitment to the work took it to even higher levels. This piece wouldn't look out of place on the main stage at Sadler's Wells. Impressive.”

A testament to their success, and the extraordinary talent on display, the cast of SET FAST will return this September for Ballet Nights 006: The Cadogan Hall Concert - one that is not to be missed!
