YOUNG AMBASSADOR
MALAYSIA

AUDITION DAY REQUIREMENTS

REGISTRATION: 9-10 AM

Classical technique classes will begin at 10am, depending on the number of applicants the class may be split into multiple groups.

Round 1:

  • Warm-Up: All participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time to warm up and receive their number. Depending on the number of applicants the technique class may be divided into multiple groups.

  • Technique Class: Participants will take a classical ballet class to assess technical skill level, musicality, and artistry. After which candidates will be chosen to pass through to the next round.

Round 2:

  • Classical Variation: Participants are requested to prepare a short classical variation, they will receive feedback and the dancers ability to take and implement correction will be observed. (Music must be prepared in advance either on a USB or as a download on the dancers phone)

  • Choreography: Short choreography will be taught. Observing the dancers ability to pick up new material, adaptability, and movement quality.

Round 3:

  • Interview: A brief interview to discuss aspirations, background, and enthusiasm for the role.

  • Program Representation: Agreement to represent Ballet Nights in Malaysia, adhering to guidelines on conduct, participation in media events, and acting as a role model for other young dancers.

Attire:

  • Please dress in a neat and professional attire. Ladies in pink tights and leotard. Gentlemen in fitted t-shirt and tights or unitard.

  • Ladies please bring along your pointe shoes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. Dancers must be between 13-20 years old.

  2. Must be either a Malaysian citizen or attending a full time ballet program in Malaysia.

  3. Minimum of 3 years in ballet or classical dance training.

  4. Ballet Nights Young Ambassador Malaysia must be available to perform in June 2026 , as well as rehearsals, coaching, and promotional events (you will be given prior notice) leading up to the Ballet Nights performances.

MARIA SASCHA KHAN

Ballet Nights Director of Artistic Development & International Ballerina.

Maria Sascha Khan, Ballet Nights Director of Artistic Development SE Asia, will be heading the search for Ballet Nights Young Ambassador! An internationally acclaimed dancer and respected leader in the arts she brings extensive expertise to the selection process. Maria Sascha began her pre-professional ballet journey at prestigious institutions such as the Kirov Academy of Ballet, under the tutelage of Luidmila Morkovina, the Royal Ballet in London, Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and on full scholarship at the Académie de Danse Classique de Princesse Grace, Monte Carlo under the personal mentorship of it’s director Marika Besobrasova, coach to Nureyev and Fonteyn.

Holding a a Masters Degree from Central Saint Martins London, her distinguished career includes internationally renowned companies such as the Staatsballett Berlin, Bayerisches Staatsballett, English National Ballet and Principal Dancer of the Ekaterinburg State Ballet. 

Maria Sascha’s lifelong connection to South East Asia, her work in artistic direction, mentoring, and creating platforms for emerging talent highlights her deep commitment to cultivating excellence and nurturing the next generation of dancers in South East Asia and beyond. Our Young Ambassador will embody Ballet Nights' mission to celebrate dance and cultural exchange on a global stage, a dancer who possesses the skill and passion to captivate audiences in South East Asia and beyond! We can’t wait to see you all shine in the studio!
